Treating Orthopaedic Injury

If you enjoy participating in sports, or are just someone who loves living an active lifestyle, you know how much regular, vigorous activity can enhance your overall health and quality of life. But what happens when you are sidelined by an unexpected injury? It can bring everything that makes you feel most alive to a sudden, grinding halt. At Specialty Orthopaedics of New Jersey, we treat all types of orthopaedic injury in our Bergen County office. Dr. David P. Rudman combines years of experience with a compassionate approach to care. To schedule a consultation, reach out to us today

Knee Injuries

We treat patellar tendinitis (runner's knee), patellar instability, meniscal tears, injuries to the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), degenerative joint disease (osteoarthritis), Osgood-Schlatter disease, and other conditions and injuries of the knee.

ACL Injuries

Treatment of ACL injuries often involves replacing the ligament using various types of grafts, including using the patient’s own tissue (autograft) or prepared tissue (allograft). Physical therapy can begin within days, and patients can usually return to their activity or sport within six months. Full recovery can typically be achieved in about nine to twelve months.

Shoulder Injuries and Disorders

We provide treatment for torn rotator cuffs, labral tears, shoulder instability, AC separations, clavicle fractures, osteoarthritis, and rotator cuff arthropathy. Dr. Rudman is one of the few surgeons in the region performing the advanced Latarjet procedure for shoulder instability and the reverse total shoulder arthroplasty.

Rotator Cuff Injuries

The rotator cuff consists of muscles stabilizing the shoulder. Rotator cuff injuries are complex, and tears do not heal on their own. When surgery is necessary, Dr. Rudman uses minimally invasive arthroscopic techniques to repair the tear, followed by a custom physical therapy program.

Shoulder Instability

When the shoulder has trouble staying in the socket because of loose ligaments, labral tears (i.e., Bankart lesions), or Glenoid deficiency, we can help. We offer the most up-to-date medical and surgical procedures to address primary and recurrent shoulder instability.

Elbow Injuries

From tennis elbow to "Tommy John" surgery, we can provide the treatment you need. Our treatments are designed to minimize down time and prevent recurrence.

Hip Injuries

Injuries to the hip are common in hockey players and long-distance runners. These can involve the muscles and tendons around the hip, as well as the labrum or cartilage. We provide the latest surgical and non-surgical treatments, and we will take the time to discuss every treatment option available to you so that you can make an informed decision.

Hand and Wrist Injuries

Hand and wrist injuries can be very debilitating to patients with an active lifestyle. From broken bones to dislocations, Dr. Rudman has the expertise to diagnose and treat your hand injury.

Sports Injuries

We treat shin splints, runner’s knee, stress fractures, turf toe, concussions, ulnar collateral ligament injuries, and more. Whether you are injured while walking up the stairs or skiing down the slope, we can treat you.
