Injuries can be prevented. On November 9, 2017 I had the pleasure of presenting a talk at The Lenox Hill Hospital 50th Anniversary of the Orthopaedic Residency program. Doctors from all over the country, including the first ever Orthopaedic resident at LHH, were in attendance. I presented a talk titled, "Physimax; Injury Prevention, Sports Performance and Safe Return to Play". Physimax, through breakthrough marker-less video analysis technology, is able highlight individual injury risk and athletic performance factors in real-time, generating objective snapshots of each athlete's mobility, stability, strength and technique. With this information athletes, strength coaches, trainers and physical therapist can customize a training program to help correct any abnormality that may put the athlete at risk. The tests performed have be validated and research has shown that correction of these abnormalities can reduce the risk injury and increase sports performance.
An example of one of the tests preformaned using Physimax technology is the Landing Error Scoring System (LESS). This test reliably identifies athletes at "high risk" of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury or lower extremity injury. Those athlete's that are "high risk" can then implement a intensive prevention training program. With the Physimax platform this information is relayed in realtime. The Physimax solution provides portable, real time, validated analytics that is conducive to large-scale assessments like the US Military, Profressional sports teams and High School sports.
